Jul. 5th, 2004 01:21 amFun July 4th. Worked to a great extent at the Hall (setting up for a wedding with Scott, all outside which was pretty annoying) and to no great extent at SPAC (Annie Lennox and Sting). Freaked out because of fracas over the Patrice picture, but in the end it wasn't a big deal, just can't have salvia and herbal smoking stuff out on the desk in business hours lest Herb see it and kill me, and then fire my corpse. Which should go without saying, of course, but I think in the end the picture will be worth it.
Just got back from Rob's, where we had smokes and beers and a grousing session about jobs and the people in them, which was very refreshing and resulted in me being nicely buzzed. Drove very carefully home, the last thing I needed was to get stopped with three resinous pipes (wasn't smoking the herb tonight... hehehe, the Herb... still had them in my car, though) and a bunch of illegal fireworks. Wouldn't have been the metaphorical icing on the metaphorical cake, so to speak. Rob and I have decided to throw another bonfire before the end of the month, and I have permission to invite the SPAC crew, whoever wants to join up.
Some things that have caught my attention lately:
• A 36 can case of Pepsi bearing the legend "50% More Than A 24-Pack!" Very exclamatory, too. Doesn't that go without saying?
• A frozen dinner containing "New! Tastier Fish!" The fish was indeed quite tasty, but it seemed like a peculiar selling point.
• Anything requesting my opinion that begins with "Won't you let us know what you think?" or something along those lines. I just like the way that sounds, much better than "Please give us your suggestions" or the stale old "Questions? Comments?"
• The fact that Rob just said to me "I need to smoke up sometime" since he used to be so hardline anti-pot.
And now, with those fascinating thoughts rolling through my head, I go to sleep for a few hours - back to the Hall at 9AM. Joy.
