I've been busy.

Last week was full of rehearsals, as hell weeks are meant to be. Tech went extremely quickly (not very surprising, given that we only had lights to work on and the competent Mr Camhi in the booth), which meant that we could run the show about 20 times. Still, runs take energy, and I managed to miss Historical Fiction and Jazz Dance today (and Seminar was CANCELLED, holy crap!) due to sleeping. And also, for the first time, I broke down and bought a stage makeup kit. Since I'm awesome and smooth [read: not at all but lucky] I got one of the kits from the bookstore that retails at $60 for $15. It pays to strike up conversations with the staff, and even more if you happen to get the one who used to sing and did makeup for an opera company.

I should also mention that we had our own halloween party in the middle of tech weekend, nonwithstanding the Please Don't Drink It Screws With Your Voice rule that goes into effect during shows. It was small, but the attendees were all the right kind and we just hung out with tunes and booze before going over to the party in Main. That lasted for about 10 minutes before everyone got lost and bored, so I went back to the TH's for a bit to hang out with Jen and Jess (not lame) and look for the afterparty (lame) before going home. Halloween at Vassar seems to get less exciting as you get older, if the LJ entries for the past three are to be believed.

And after dress rehearsal on Wednesday, I went over to see Sideshow and take notes on the sound. It was interesting. I really enjoyed the performances of Evan (Barker), Conner (pyromaniac megalomaniac), and Devin (Juggler) and the concept was interesting, but I felt that it dragged in some sections and lacked direction. This is partly explained by virtue of the fact that there's no script for the show and each night was essentially improvised, but still I felt that the show didn't come into its full potential. It was nice to see something unusual on campus, though, and everyone seemed to enjoy the sound design, so I was happy about that.

The show itself was a rousing success. Not a huge audience on Thursday, but they were attentive (except the four people in the front row, one of whom was playing with a spoon for the entire second act). Friday was a nearly full house and I think the best showing by the cast (Mollishka send me a really nice email about that performance, it's great to hear opinions other than those of the directors or faculty, especially when they pick up on things you were trying to get across in the perfomance) - we were being videotaped, which will be interesting, and there were some chatty high school kids up in the balcony who had to be remonstrated with by Mr Miller (Now, kids, I'm not yellin' at ya, BUT-!). I'd rather like to get a copy of that video from archives sometime.

On Saturday, I awoke from some sort of stupor (had been to the Mug with Morgan and Kat and Josh Raisher), went on a serious liquor run, cleaned up the kitchen and living room and sat around with the above characters waiting for the family to show up. They (family) took me out to the Dutch for dinner, but mine came quite late, so I was forced to scarf down a large chicken salad in about 5 minutes and then RUN to the Martel. I was feeling a bit queasy for photo call, and am hoping that didn't come across in the pictures. Saturday featured a weird audience who clapped in odd places and didn't laugh at all of the jokes - but looking out at them, they were undeniably more attentive than the two nights previous, and once the cast got that sense, they picked up on energy. I was so angry at the end of the yelling-at-Juliet scene that I was shaking in my seat and barely managed to calm down before going on again. Apparently that scene concerned a good number of people in the audience, which is awesome and the way it should be.

And then we had the cast party. That... was huge. I think we had nearly 45 people stop in, with 30 people in the house at one point. Morgan and I ran a full bar until we got bored/overwhelmed and just let people go nuts (the bartender's guide got passed around several times, which was fun). To my dismay, Eunice didn't like her bottle of wine, but that just meant she went on to harder stuff and was observed taking shots with people. I started playing with the stereo (raise your hands if you're surprised) and managed to start a dance party in the living room - no mean feat considering the number of people in there. Eunice came over and danced, then announced that she was regrettably leaving, but if we threw another party, she expected an invitation. Honestly, can we keep her? Anyway, that lasted for about four hours with no illness (I think) and no Security (I know) and some drama that I wasn't aware of (and I don't think colored the party atmosphere too much). After everyone left, we discovered Rachel's card in the toilet (...) and Morgan and I walked to the Acrop, because that's what we do.

Yesterday, I was awakened by Morgan and Josh, and three minutes later was doing vinegar shots with them. Constitution +10, Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma -12. Luckily, you only need the first one to clean up the house after a raging party. Dinner was Southern Pulled Pork, which sent me into a food coma (compounded by War and Peace) and resulted in sleeping for 12 hours. That was a little too refreshing, and now I'm sleepy again... but there's much to be read, as I have to lead a discussion in Historical Fiction tomorrow (as Dan says: "To make up for your absenteeism." Dammit!).

And strike, which I think will consist of me doing my timecards and signing up for Art of Acting. Apparently I'm also signed up for a Stage Combat Independent Study? That's pretty cool.

Hells bells, and I have to preregister for my last semester of school already. Work work. At least Dredg is coming up (with Chris, Phil, Conner, and Tyler) and then Jaeger Boys Weekend.
