There are five weeks to go.

Way too much has been going on in the last two weeks to really make any sort of organized summary, but I'll give it a shot anyway.

• First and foremost, the Dresden Dolls continue to rock everyone's world. We had a major field trip up to Albany (Kendra, J. Lags, Julianna, Phil, Roo, Hardysan, Em, Tyler and I) to go see them at... the Egg. Which was a little bit weird, since there are seats everywhere, and who wants to sit for a Dresden Dolls show? The answer to that is: the older folks who clearly had season tickets to the Egg and decided that this would be a nice night out. Oops. So there was a nice mix of grey hair and kids with eyeliner. The opening bands Reverend Glasseye and Golem (acoustic rock and Eastern European klezmer rock - yes! really!) were fantastic, and we all gained cool points by association with Roo, who made a witty quip in a moment of silence ("God help you, drum boy...!") The Dresden Dolls were naturally the highlight, especially their cover of "Kiss Off" and... well, everything they did was awesome. Everyone ended up standing down in the orchestra pit anyway. Good times.

• Second, there have been several parties going on, both here and elsewhere, and Alan was here for an entire week, which means my liver took an intense beating. Best events were Hannah's birthday party and Jen's Sharpiefest. I adventured down to Purchase on Wednesday with Jenn and Steph to see Rob's installation "In The Name Of The Father" a stained glass look at religion, which was fucking phenomenal. 4/20 yesterday was nice, but not very epic as I had lots of work (see below) and Art of Acting in the middle of the day, but Tyler had a shindig at his place which made up for it.

• Third, I have had my First Ever Professional Audition Ever. This was for the Shakespeare Theater in Washington DC, a fellowship opportunity that runs for a year. While this sounds really cool, I already have some plans for next year (see below), and in all honesty is not exactly what I am looking for right out of college. Maybe I'll go for one of the open auditions in a few years. I went down to NYC with J.Lags, Hardy, Erica Fox and Yako (the auditions were at Julliard) (and we parked the car illegally at the train station) to strut my Shakespearean prowess. In all, it wasn't as scary as I thought it'd be, just pop in, do it, and out, though I did require a cigarette afterwards (my first one in about seven weeks, and last one for the forseeable future, go me!). We all went out for food afterwards, and managed to find an amazing Mexican place... since the Department was paying, we got $10 margaritas, guacamole made at the table, and fancy entrees. And since we didn't have to be back for anything pressing, why not go have a nap in Central Park? Hell yes. So we did. The car didn't even have a ticket on it when we got back - I was sure it was going to have been towed, cause I'm a paranoid freakshow, but all went well.

• Fourth, and I suppose one of the most important bits, I have an apartment. In New York City. Bejabbers. With Wilburn and Cori and Kendra. It was actually not as hard to find one as I'd thought, we only really looked at two. Fortunately, Wilburn was willing to do most of the legwork (hooray for Wilburn!) and just sent us emails about what we were looking at. Kendra and I made several early morning trips down to look at places, and we got engaged in a real estate war, with various companies lowering rents to entice us to go there. In the end, we picked one. It's farther uptown (around 170th street) but what the hell, it's on Manhattan... we can just say we're living on the upper upper west side. It's 238 Fort Washington Avenue, Apartment 63. Right across from the elevator. Hell yes. The biggest hassle we really faced was getting my parents enough assurance that we weren't being ripped off, and while it was frustrating, I really can't blame them for being cautious, especially given what happened to Alan last year. Everything's legit, and Wilburn and Cori move in at the beginning of May. I'm not sure when I'm going to pick up and move down there - it's a little intimidating, having a piece of building with your name on it for the first time - but all very exciting nonetheless. We have a neighborhood, a Sushi bar right down the street and a Chinese buffet and grocery downstairs, so I think we'll be fine.

• Fifth, holy shit, where did all this work come from? This last week everything just blew up all of a sudden. A thirty page rough draft of the script about Phil Wood, Archangels sound design, papers for Soviets and Shakespeare, and term papers and final presentations and projects all coming out of the woodwork. I'm lucky I don't have to be in tech this week or I'd be insane. Having everything appear so quickly, the nice weather, and the vision of the light at the end of the tunnel is combining to make me not want to do anything... but I have a fundamental issue with not doing anything (guilt!) so I get stressed out and bitter, and since I'm not smoking anymore I snack on things instead, which then makes me feel gross and stressed and bitter, and it all kind of snowballs from there. Inspiration is sorely lacking in everything I'm trying to do that relates to schoolwork - even coming up with a thesis topic for Miki seems like a massive and impossible task. The rest of the semester looks kind of hopeless, so I think I might just close my eyes and hope the work part is over as quickly and painlessly as possible. This close to graduation, it's not at all what anyone wants to be doing. It sucks being depressed in the spring.

• Sixth, finally got to see Antietam and Homestead, and they were both awesome. I was supposed to have a Road Trip To End All Road Trips this weekend to Gettysburg with Sean and Ellie, but HE cancelled the FOF premiere that was to be the focus of the trip. And then Ellie had to work, and Sean couldn't make it anyway, so it ended up being OK that it was cancelled, but still a pretty major disappointment that the trip fell through. I might go down to Culture Shock at Purchase tonight to see World/Inferno and Saul Williams, but that's all a maybe.

Right. There's probably something I should be doing right now... so I suppose I'll go figure out what it is and do it, or something.
